Na Koa Announce Radio Agreement

Story by the Maui News

WAILUKU - Na Koa Ikaika Maui of the North American Baseball League announced Friday a three-year agreement with the KAOI Radio Group for the team's broadcast rights.

The group owns KAOI-AM (1110), which will be the flagship station for Na Koa, as well as four FM stations - KAOI-FM (95.1), Q103 (103.7), KDLX (94.3) and KHEI (107.5).

Na Koa also announced a promotional agreement for 2012 with H Hawaii Media, owner of FM stations KONI (104.7), K-Rock (97.3) and Y 106 FM (106.5).

"It is very unique to have two competitive radio companies work together for the common good of the island," said Na Koa general manager Dan Partney. "I commend the KAOI Radio Group and H Hawaii Media for their willingness to set aside their competitive instincts in order to support professional baseball on Maui. To me, it speaks volumes about the character of these two Maui companies."

The team's previous deal was with Pacific Radio Group. Na Koa had all but one game broadcast in 2010, their inaugural season, but just the first 11 of 2011 before a dispute with Pacific Radio Group.

This year's season is to begin in late May.
